Even though Apple just recently released their 4-inch comeback, they are now set to release three more variants of their next flagship. Leaked images of the upcoming of the new iPhone 7 handsets, shows it in three different sizes.
In a photo attained by Nowhereelse.fr, it features three iPhone 7 models side-by-side. The article states that Apple will release the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 Pro in September.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities earlier reaffirmed that the California-based tech giant is indeed working on a third iPhone 7 model in addition to the imminent iPhone SE. Although Kuo didn’t call it the iPhone 7 Pro, he said that the bigger model will come in two variants: “one with a single iSight rear-facing camera and another boasting a dual-camera design.”
When Apple released their iPhone 6, they only released it in two variants. As featured by tech resource page O2, the iPhone 6 came with a 4.7-inch while the iPhone 6 Plus sported a 5.5-inch. These designs were continued on their recent flagship devices, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The O2 specifications page also points out that the handset is a lot thinner and tougher, making the ‘iPhone 6 feels just right’ when in a consumer’s hand.
With the possible release of three iPhone models, users will be given more options to pick the one that best suits them. But, aside from the screen size, there are more reasons to fall in love with the next iPhone.
Apple seems to be working on a smartphone with a bigger internal memory by dropping the 16GB model and offering a 32GB as its minimum storage capacity. In a report by BGR, they said the iPhone 7 will be available in 32GB, 64GB, and 256GB options. However, Chinese website WeChat said that the tech company will not only kill the 16GB variant, but also the 64GB model and replace them with a 32GB and 128GB respectively.
While there’s no definite report yet on whether Apple will finally upgrade the internal memory of their upcoming flagship, one thing is certain – fans should expect this change to raise the price.
Larger Camera Lens
One of the known upgrades that Apple will undertake on the iPhone 7 will focus on its camera lens. Leaked images have shown that the camera sensor on the next iPhone is “significantly larger” than what they’ve employed on their current flagship. They may also finally start leveraging their acquisition of LinX back in 2014 to offer users superior and compelling camera performance. LinX was said to be ‘leading the way to DSLR performance in slim handsets,’ which should give the iPhone 7 better low light performance, less noise levels and improved color fidelity.
An article on the iPhone 7 said that the handset will sport a powerful 21-megapixel lens that will produce DSLR quality images. These rumors should be taken seriously as it’s been well publicized that Apple is working with Sony in producing CMOS sensors, and the latter just recently introduced their next wave of smartphones with a 21-megapixel Exmore RS IMX230 lens.
Since the iPhone 7 hasn’t been released yet, all of this information has yet to be confirmed by Apple. We all need to wait until September when Apple finally announces the smartphone and then a month later when it reaches the market. What do you think of the next iPhone handset?
