TMZ reports that Prince’s plane was diverted to Quad City International Airport in Moline after he was taken ill during the flight. He was then rushed to hospital in a ‘medical emergency’.
One source told TMZ he is ‘not doing well’, although the nature of the emergency is not yet known.
Another source, however, has conflicted with that report in saying he has been released and is ‘Okay’.
He’d been performing in Atlanta to two sold out shows. The performances had been rescheduled after he was taken ill with flu a week earlier, and fans have since said the gigs were ‘flawless’.
The 57-year-old was reportedly only in the air a short while before being taken ill.
Reps for Prince have been contacted by Metro.co.uk.
A rep has now told TMZ that Prince has been battling the flu for weeks. He performed his rescheduled shows this week despite not feeling well. He then began to feel progressively worse during the flight which was when the decision was made to make an emergency landing.
The singer was taken to hospital, treated, and is now said to have continued the journey home.
